Increased collaboration with Japan

Increased collaboration with Japan

7/1/2014

Norway and Japan are world's leading countries in terms of marine research, management and business. The Norway-Japan Marine Science Week was recently held on the 4th of June in Tokyo. The conference included many interesting sessions, and Bergen Marine Research Cluster was strongly represented with a large number of partners as speakers and participants (NIFES, UNI and UIB). With approximately 50 Norwegian participants and 250-300 Japanese participants, the conference was an arena for many interesting discussions.

Formal visits were made by JAMSTEC and MRI, and it is now being discussed whether to hold a similar event in 2015 to ensure continuity of this exciting work.

More information about the Marine Science Week are found here. The Deputy Rector for Internationalisation at UiB, Anne "Tine" Christine Johannessen, which also was attending this conference, has written about the meeting. It can be found here.
