Johan Hjort Symposium

Johan Hjort Symposium

9/10/2014

In 2014 it will be 100 years since Johan Hjort wrote his seminal book ‘Fluctuations in the Great Fisheries of Northern Europe’. The importance of this volume cannot be overstated, in particular Hjort’s new conceptual ideas about the formation of strong year classes based on age determination techniques from fish scales. Johan Hjort set the agenda for the next 100 years of research on fish stocks and fluctuation in fish populations.

In order to recognise Johan Hjort’s legacy, world-leading marine scientists will meet the 7-9th of October in Bergen and attend the first ever Hjort Symposium. Read more here
